#23 Vanadium

The last chapter in which Larry appears. Everything after this is the fantasy novel, lovingly titled Interlude.

The sound of Larry's shoes scuffing the carpet carried through the halls, seeming magnified by the emptiness of the place. He had heard the Zieferts mention servants, but he had been wandering the halls for an hour now and not only had he not seen another living soul, but he no long had any clue where he was.

"Damn giant house... who the hell needs a mansion for a family of four anyway? And they called me the stuck up jerk..." Larry seethed to himself. "Dammit, I must've passed that same fucking door five times already." He grumbled to himself and opened the door.

There was a dark hallway behind the door, and it seemed to absorb the light from the hall that Larry was in. He flicked the light switch and a flickering light came on. He closed the hall door behind him and entered into the small hallway.

In which we begin to see that I'm having trouble with my plot and have decided to write something else. But instead of starting over from scratch, I've found a way to write a fantasy novel in my sci-fi adventure! >_<

Oh, look! More word padding! This time in the form of songs (which I don't own)! Will Larry and Ferran ever have a conversation? (They'd better- it's a major plot point... +grumble+)

In this chapter, Larry and Ferran finally meet. Also, I don't know if any of you have noticed but I seem to like to use the letter 'R' in the names of my characters. In fact, Gustav the Cat and Chiko the student are the only characters that don't have any 'R's in their names. And the three characters who I've spent the most time on (Larry, Ferran, and Carrie) all have DOUBLE R's! Argh!

Lucky thirteen- or perhaps it's unlucky? I dunno. I've never been good with superstitions. This chapter pushed me over the 12k mark and almost into 13k, so that's pretty cool. There is some blatant word padding, but after the coffee spew back in Chapter 8 (still the longest chapter to date- almost twice the size of my second-longest chapter) anything is easier to read, no? :) I was stuck and couldn't figure out what to do, so I decided to have Ferran review.

I also realized that my beloved Ferran, the awesome science teacher of awesomeness with the super cool name, is almost never reffered to as such. Since he's a teacher, most people call him by his last name (Mr. Ziefert), but even his friends are now calling him Z instead of Ferran! No! This isn't how it's supposed to be!

I don't know if anyone's noticed so far, but I've had several anagrams of NaNoWriMo in my story so far. Mr. Ian Woon is the best known and most commonly used one (he plays the principal of James Madison High School), but I also have Arwin Moon (head of The University) and now Noa W. Morin (the secretary). Let's see who else I can NaNo-ize this month, hmm? ^_^
